D. D. Jackson is an Emmy award winning composer, Juno award winning Jazz Pianist, he is an accomplished arranger/composer/producer for Television/Film and many other forms of media.
He received his Bachelors in Music in Classical piano from Indiana University, and his masters in Jazz from the Manhattan School of Music. His mentors include legends in jazz such as Jaki Byard and Don Pullen. He has recorded, toured and performed with some of the most acclaimed names in Jazz including Jack Dejohnette, James Carter & David Murray. He is a frequent collaborator with Questlove and the Roots. In 2000, he won a Juno award for best Contemporary Jazz album “So far”, and in 2016, DD won an Emmy award for “Outstanding Music Direction and Composition” in with 3 others for PBS’s Peg + Cat.
